Talking with Dr Rebecca Ray!

Tell me a little bit about yourself, your career and what has lead you to creating the Happi Habits program?

I'm a clinical psychologist and a writer. I created the Happi Habits program to help people learn powerful positive psychology techniques to shift from surviving to thriving.

What advice would you give to someone who is struggling but are unsure of whether they should talk to someone about it?

I'd say start by talking to someone they trust - whether that be a close friend or a professional. Opening up can be difficult at first but it's the best way to access help and understand you are not alone.

If someone is looking for a psychologist and trying to find someone who is a good fit for them, what are some good questions to ask?

Questions around treatment approach, years of experience, and types of problems the psychologist specialises in treating can be useful but I always encourage people to meet their psychologist face to face first. It's important to feel comfortable with the person sharing space with you when you're feeling vulnerable and talking about your struggles.

What do you do to help yourself when things are getting a bit tough.

All the strategies in the Happi Habits program, but my main go-to practices are exercise, gratitude, and perspective-taking.
